Coach Stenbeck graduated from Chatfield High School where he ran cross-country and track. He attended and competed in Cross Country collegiately at Colorado Christian University (1997-2000) and for Track and Field at Southwest Baptist University in Missouri from 2001-2002 where he obtained a History degree. Post collegiately Coach Stenbeck pursued making the Olympic Trials Marathon and in the process found some minor success in the marathon and half-marathon distances with personal bests of 2:23:48 for the marathon and 1:06:12 for half marathon. He began his coaching career in 2005 as a volunteer assistant at Chatfield. He joined the Dakota Ridge Cross Country and Track coaching staff in 2006 as assistant coach. In 2012, after some great years with Head Coach Mike Callor, Coach Stenbeck took over as Head Coach of Cross Country and Track and Field. Coach Stenbeck has a Masters Degree in School Counseling and currently works at Ken Caryl Middle School.
National Coach of the Year
Coach Hitzges is a 2001 graduate of Dakota Ridge. She ran both cross country and track, and holds school records for the mile relay and 4X800 relay. She graduated from UNC where she ran both cross country and track all four years. During her freshman year at UNC, she competed in the NCAA Division II National Championship meet for cross country. Now a teacher, she is passionate about running and coaching and her family.
A graduate of Abraham Lincoln in Denver where he was City champion in both the long jump and triple jump.
He also finished second in state in both jumps. Went on to run track at CSU, competing in the sprint relays and
long and triple jump. Was all-conference in triple jump his junior and senior years. Set the school record in triple jump at Kansas Relays placing second. Won the "Gene Williams outstanding track athlete" award his senior year. Graduated with a degree in math and computer science. Started coaching track at Dakota Ridge in 2005. Coach Springer is a 2006 graduate of Grandview High School in Aurora. Growing up she played soccer and field hockey, but didn't discover her love for running until college. She fell in love with trail running and competes in trail races regularly; finishing her first ultra marathon in November 2018. Her coaching career started in 2012 as a volunteer with the Columbine High School Cross Country Team, and after a year became an Assistant Coach. In 2016 Coach Springer started as an Assistant Coach with the Dakota Ridge Cross Country team. She is one of the Visual Arts teachers as Dakota, specializing in photography.
I love working with kids and teaching them to exercise safely. I recently began coaching at Dakota Ridge with the freshman football team in fall of 2019 and now on the Track and Field staff beginning Spring 2020. I competed in the Decathlon in Track and Field at SUNY Geneseo in New York. I have been a personal trainer at 24 hour fitness and Paragon Fitness and accumulated 7000 plus hours of personal training. Currently finishing an Economics degree through Colorado State University.
Coach Kevin grew up in a small town in South Dakota. He attended St. Mary’s High School, where he ran cross country and track. He attended Dakota State College, where he continued to run cross country and track, achieving All American status in cross country. He continues to love running, and participates in many races including 5Ks, 10Ks, marathons and ultra marathons. He is proud to be a part of the Dakota Ridge cross country and track family.
